About Our Name

The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality. Scripture compels believers to be loving and hospitable. As Christians, we're usually pretty good at being nice. The Word also commands us to be salty. We Christians are often really good at laying the truth on the line, too. What's not so easy is to do both at the same time. It seems we tend to drift between presenting the truth with a sledgehammer and morphing into "generic nice people," who are afraid to offend. The challenge is to straddle these two commands, speaking the truth (salty) in love (pineapple).
Consider this:
• A pineapple plant takes about three years from the time it is planted before it bears fruit. The gospel of Christ is often like this when we will have periods of abundant harvest as well as periods of drought.
• To this day, no one has developed a mechanical way to harvest pineapples. Every single piece of fruit sold has be harvested individually by hand. That's a lot like reaching others for Christ: it's hands-on work.
• Pineapples don't grow anywhere near where Salty Pineapple Design is located. This points to the international nature of missions and the internet. As you begin to generate compelling content, it's possible for people around the world to access through your web site. In this way, the light of your ministry can shine into the darkest parts of the world.
It's all about Christ-like (salty) hospitality (pineapple).
